History

1989

Aktas Dis Ticaret Ltd. Sti. was established.
The company started to provide services with various bulk and packaged products, primarily solvents, to different sectors in Turkey, where chemical raw materials were utilized.

1990

Aktas Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. was established.
It was established for the purpose of providing regular and constant services and developing on packaged products in addition to all available products that Aktas Dis Ticaret Ltd. Şti had been offering.

1993

Aktas Mumessillik Ticaret A.S. was established.
It was established to conduct marketing operations in Turkey for the products of ICI – Imperial Chemicals Industries, UK, which in fact operates today under Inovyn, Mexichem, Lucite International/Mitsubishi Rayon (MRC) and Ineos.

1995

Agency and distributorship agreements were signed with manufacturers in ICI Group.
Chlorinated solvents, refrigeration gasses and surface-active materials were added to the product portfolio.

A distributorship agreement was signed with Union Carbide.
Glycols, glycol ethers, esters and amines were added to the product portfolio.

1998

Ekin Kimya Ltd. Sti. joined Aktas
Ekin Kimya Ltd. Sti (founded in 1995) was acquired by the company for the purpose of serving diversified sectors including pharmaceutical chemicals, food chemicals, fuel additive materials, laboratory and analysis chemicals, which were not present in Aktas portfolio at that time.

1999

Aktas Tank Terminal started operations.
Bulk chemicals, that the group was supplying with vessels, began to be stored at Aktas Tank Terminal in Derince-Izmit.

2000

A distributorship agreement was signed with Dow Chemical Company (DOW).
After Union Carbide had been acquired by Dow Chemical, the current product portfolio of Union Carbide and the new products of Dow Chemical began to be marketed by Aktas Dis Ticaret Ltd. Sti.

Ak-tas Dis Tic. A.S. was established.
Ak-tas Dis Ticaret A.S. was founded by consolidating previous companies of Ak-tas Dis Tic. Ltd. Sti., Ak-tas Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. and Ak-tas Mumessillik Ticaret A.S.

2001

The distribution began in Turkey of acetone and phenol products from the petrochemical facilities of CEPSA / ERTISA by means of JLM (US).

The distribution to Turkish markets began for toluene, styrene monomers, MEG, DEG and amines from the petrochemical facilities of LUKOIL, Bourgas/Bulgaria.

2003

Products from the Rompetrol refinery began to be marketed.

2008

A distributorship agreement was completed with Borealis Group.
henol products began to be distributed in Turkey.

2010

The storage capacity of Ak-tas Tank Terminal was expanded.
By increasing the capacity of the terminal, faster, safer, more regular and more voluminous services began to be provided to customers.

WhiteChem S.A. was established.
WhiteChem S.A. was founded in Geneva, Switzerland, in order to develop commercial operations, to increase product diversity and to create new sources for the Group.

2011

Versalis (Eni) products (toluene and xylene) began to be distributed.

T Dinamik Enerji Sanayi ve Dis Ticaret A.S. was established.
The company was founded as an Ak-tas subsidiary to invest in renewable energy, primarily solar and wind.

2012

Operations began at GEBKIM.
Operations began in Gebze Organized Industrial Zone for chemical production, storage, and laboratory studies.

2013

Tegnatia Enerji Uretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. was established.
The company began operations under the partnership of T Dinamik and Egnatia Group for the installation of turn-key solar energy projects of domestic and global investors.

2014

Ak-tas Dis Ticaret A.S. started Adana Yumurtalık Free Trade Zone Branch operations.
The storage facility in Adana Yumurtalık Free Trade Zone went into service in order to faster serve the southern strip of Turkey in the domestic market as well as MENA countries in the export market.

2015

AKFA Tank Terminal went into operation.
AKFA Tank Terminal, which currently operates in the Chalkida-Avlis region and is one of the largest petrochemical storage facilities in Greece, began chemical raw material storage services for Greece and regional markets.

A distributorship agreement was completed with Chevron Belgium NB.
WhiteChem started operations as an authorized distributor of Group II Base Oils from Chevron Belgium NB to Turkey and regional countries, and became one of the 15 hubs worldwide.

2016

A distributorship agreement was completed with Ineos Oxide.
More than 100 products were added to the portfolio.

2017

Ak-tas entered Fortune 500 Turkey List with its solo financial results.

2018

At the “2017 Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters’ Association (IKMIB) Export Stars Awards” ceremony, Ak-tas won the second place within the Organic Chemicals Export category.

2019

On 18th January 2019, Ak-tas celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Acrylic Design Awards 2019 was organized by Lucite International and Ak-tas to celebrate the 26th year of their cooperation and to show this strategic partnership’s commitment to the Turkish market.

Sale of Ekin Kimya’s shares to Azelis SA has been completed.
All shares of Ekin Kimya Tic. A.S., a company incorporated in 1995 and operating under Ak-tas Dis Ticaret A.S. since 1998 and which is a leading supplier of pharmaceuticals and food industries in Turkey, were transferred on 16 December 2019 to Azelis SA, a leading global chemical raw material supplier operating in the same industry.

All shares of Tegnatia A.S. have been acquired.
Tegnatia was incorporated in 2013 together with the Greece-based Egnatia Group and successfully carries out design, engineering and installation services of power plants that will generate electricity by using solar energy in the field of generation of electricity by using renewable resources that constitutes one of the strategic sectors of Turkey. Our 50% shareholding in Tegnatia has been increased to 100% upon the acquisition of all shares of Egnatia constituting the remaining 50%, on 7 January 2020.
